How To Burn Copyrighted DVDs? Simple And Easy

Have you ever broken a new DVD or wanted to keep a back-up in case you loaned it to a friend and they never returned it? If you are like me, you've had this happen plenty of times and that is why I want to tell you how to burn copyrighted dvds and never worry about this again! Let's face it, those suckers are expensive enough as it is.

I've got several programs that I use to burn my CDs like most people, and wondered how easily I could do the same with DVDs. So, after a bit of research I found a few different programs and bought the best one I thought would work. And it did the job in no time. But there are a few things you should remember before purchasing a DVD burning program.
The biggest concern we have to keep in mind is that we aren't just burning regular dvds. These are copyrighted and typically aren't able to be copied. However, not all folks who want to make copies of their dvd movies are doing it to resell for a profit. Honest people like us just want to have a back-up in case it gets lost or stolen. So when you are shopping for a software program insure that is has the capability of burning copyrighted dvds.

Chances are these programs are going to cost some money. Think about it though, even if they cost up to $50 that will save you a lot of money in the long run! The last time I checked, a new release dvd was selling for at least $25-30. And I've loaned or broken plenty of dvds that would have made this software pay for itself really quick.

So how do I burn them already!

Once you've found a suitable burning software program, you will need blank disks to copy your dvd to. Most local electronics stores and even the grocery store have blank dvds. Don't go cheap on these though! You want a blank disk that has a very large capacity so your entire dvd can be burned to it and have the quality remain 100%. Once you've got these two items, it's as simple as 1-2-3. Place the disk in your writable drive, walk through the software program to make a temporary copy, and then insert the writable disk and let it make the duplicate copy, and BAM! You've got a backup of your precious copyrighted dvds!

How Do I Play Windows Games on a Mac?

Have you ever wanted to play Windows games on your Mac? Well if you have an Intel powered Mac running a Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later operating system you can run a complete Windows operation system such as Windows XP in parallel with your normal Mac operating system. With the Windows operating system installed on your Mac you can than play those Windows Game in fact you can run any Windows program.
To install Windows on your Mac you will first need to install the Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac software on your system. To successfully run the Parallels Desktop software on your Mac you must have the following:-

• Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later. To check what version of Mac OS X you have got, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu in the menu bar.
• An Intel-powered Core™ Duo or Core™ Solo Mac® Mini, iMac®, MacBook™, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro.
• A minimum of 768MB of RAM but 1GB is recommended.
• About 200 MB of hard disk space on the boot volume for Parallels Desktop installation.
• Sufficient space on your hard disks to allocate for the virtual machines, i.e. 15 GB of hard disk space is recommended for each virtual machine.

Installing Parallels Desktop software on your Mac is not difficult. When it is installed you can then use it to install what it calls the Guest operation systems i.e. the other operating system such as Windows XP or Vista or even Linux that you want to run at the same time as your Mac operating system. You can install any of the Windows operating systems but there is a Windows Express Installation Assistant especially for Windows XP and Windows Vista. You can also install using Typical or Custom installation settings. During the installation process you will be instructed to insert the CD or DVD containing the Operating System software you want installed, such as the Windows XP Operating System disk.

When the Guest operating system is installed it will run in a window on your Mac screen. When you run an application in the virtual machine with Windows installed, the running application's icon appears in the Dock by default. If you want this application icon to remain in the Dock even when it or the virtual machine are not running simply Right-click (Control-click) the applications icon in the Dock, and select Keep in Dock. If you then click the Windows application's icon in the Dock it launches the virtual machine and then the Windows application. In this way you can have the icon for your favourite Windows Game in the Dock and simply click it when you want to play that game.

If you follow the above procedure you will be in a position to install and run all of those Windows Games that you wanted to play, as well as install and run any other Windows applications. I have personally tried each and every method very carefully , so i hope u wont catch up in any sort of situation where you have to compromise your MAC and Your time !!

The Apple Power Mac G5

The Power Mac G5 is Apple Computer's newest flagship system. In fact, it is considered by many as not only the fastest Mac avaliable, but the fastest personal computer to date. Using a liquid cooling system, the G5 is able to keep its powerful dual processors running cool and fast. Currently the dual processors come in speeds of 1.8GHz, 2GHz and 2.5GHz. Don't let the GHz confuse you, however. These systems have been shown to out-pace the fastest Pentium 4 systems in commonly used applications such as Photoshop.

This computer can truly claim to be the worlds first mass-produced and marketed 64-bit processor. Running the dual processors at 64-bits allows the G5 Power Mac to reach speeds of 4GHz - something the pentium processor has not come close to doing thus far (The fastest Pentium 4s with Hyperthreading currently run at 3.4Ghz).

Another remarkable feature of the Apple Power Mac G5 is its phenominal bandwidth capability. The G5 has a maximum 1.25GHz frontside bus (each processor has one), allowing data to be processed extremely fast without even affecting the central processors. The "high-speed, high-capacity" memory capabilities along with the impressive frontside bus allow the G5 to produce amazing 3D/2D video and accoustics.

There will always be a kind of comparison between PC and MAC !! Simply put, the Power Mac is a marvel to behold. For mac users, and pc users alike, this is a dream come true. It's a true leap forward in the speed and capability of the home computer.

EA Developing C&C: Red Alert 3

Electronic Arts (EA) Los Angeles is currently developing "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3", the next iteration of its popular 'Command & Conquer Red Alert' game series. EA said the mainstay of the new game is its fully cooperative, story-driven campaign rendered in a 'light-hearted' style. By contrast, EA's 'Command & Conquer Tiberium' series has an essentially serious, stark tone.

Add to "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3" some really weird time travelling, and you have a game that alters the course of history -- at least the way we know it. A dwindling Soviet Union takes refuge in an Eastern European avatar of the Time Machine to try and prevent Russia's imminent defeat in the prevailing Cold War.

But in vain; instead, the Soviets end up helping Japan to set up an empire of its own -- sans that mammoth eventuality, World War II. With the shadow of a near World War III looming large on the horizon -- what with Stalin having invaded Western Europe. The warring factions being: the Allies, the Soviet Bloc, and the Empire of the Rising Sun.

The gamer could be part of any of these factions. The humor in the game essentially arises out of the irony of timelines that create a history that is beyond bizarre. Hand in glove with the oddity of it all are a couple of 'wacky' weapons with which the war is fought: tesla coils, war blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks, to name a few.

And there's a whole lot of naval combat weaved in since a large part of the war unfolds against the backdrop of the vast Pacific Ocean. While the official "Red Alert 3" Web site has been launched by EA, the company hasn't yet announced a release date for "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3".

However, those who buy the limited edition of the other Command & Conquer (Tiberium) Series, or its Kane's Wrath Expansion Pack, will receive an invite to the game's beta test scheduled for later this year. Meanwhile, EA said "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3" would be available for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

I hope this time around they do something different for multiplayer games. I mean we are in an era of MMO so its only logical they work on some sort of co-op play with a bit more depth than ''log on game, destroy enemy, end game'' type of game.

Sony Intros External Card Reader

Sony Electronics has introduced its new external memory card reader, the MRW62E-S2, which is primarily targeted at home, SOHO, and professional users. With dimensions of 86 x 50 x 15.7mm (width x depth x height), the MRW62E-S2 promises to be very convenient to ferry around. It has a USB 2.0 interface, and no additional power is required, which makes it one of the easiest card readers to use, according to Sony.

The MRW62E-S2 is capable of reading different types of cards, including: Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Micro, CompactFlash, Microdrive, SmartMedia, xD-Picture Card, SD Memory Card, mini SD Card, Multi Media Card, and RS-MNC. Introducing the MRW62E-S2, Edmund Tan, assistant manager (Sales and Marketing - Computer Peripherals Products) of Applications and Devices Marketing (Singapore-based division of Sony Electronics), said that today, when most users use one or the other type of memory card, it becomes vital to introduce an external card reader that can be carried and used easily anywhere.

Adding to it, Kapal Pansari, director of Rashi Peripherals, said that today, Indian users largely prefer smart phones and digital cameras over any other device, and to get the maximum out of these, they need extra storage which various cards are able to provide. To get data on to the PC or laptop, you need to have a good quality card reader.

...which makes it one of the easiest card readers to use.

The Silver colored MRW62E-S2 will retail for around Rs 700.

Massive Patch Tuesday for Microsoft

This Tuesday, February 12, Microsoft released 11 patches that address 17 security vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities include problems in Microsoft Office, in IE, and two new denial of service (DoS) attacks. As a result, this particular "Patch Tuesday" (the term used to describe the second Tuesday every month when Microsoft releases security fixes in one bundle) has been the biggest in a period of one year.

Microsoft also tends to use "Patch Tuesday" to release other updates designated as "non-security, high-priority". IE7, for example, was sent to users on a Patch Tuesday. This time round, it is two updates that prepare Vista computers for the Vista Service Pack 1. That is, a Vista computer needs to have these installed before SP1 can be installed (later, in March). Actually, a total of three updates is required before one can install SP1 on Vista. However, Microsoft has already sent one out via the Windows Update last month.

The patches have been marked "Important", and install automatically if a user has Windows Update set to the recommended configuration; reads a post on the Windows Vista team Blog. The first of the patches is an update to Vista's "servicing stack", while the second is a "multi-component update", according to the Blog post authored by Nick White, a product manager for the Vista team. Some users already know this: when Microsoft first put up Vista SP1 for download (the Release Candidate, or RC, in December 2007), it informed users that there would be three prerequisites.
Meanwhile, some users are still confused:
the idea of having to update a Vista installation before one can update it later with SP1 doesn't seem to make perfect sense. Besides, couldn't the updates have been included in the final SP1 release? Talking of which, there happen to be driver incompatibilities, due to which some machines might not work right now after applying the update. Microsoft is hoping to address these issues by mid-March, and only then will SP1 be available on Windows Update. For the record, many of those who have already tested SP1 for Vista are complaining about slowdowns, and no real improvements.
Isnt that great news.

I&B Says Yes for IPTV on Cable TV

In a significant development, the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has approved the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and given cable TV operators the go ahead for providing IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services.

Internet Protocol Television or IPTV is a new way of delivering- and viewing- television using an IP (Internet Protocol) network and high-speed Broadband technology.

With the I&B nod, all cable operators registered under the 'Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act 1995' will be able to provide IPTV services without requiring further license. Meanwhile, TRAI's recommendations for telecom companies and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to provide IPTV services haven't yet met with approval from the Department of Telecom (DoT).

In case of IPTV, TRAI has recommended that existing laws be amended so that Broadcasters can give their signals to IPTV players too in addition to DTH- and cable TV- operators. The regulator has recommended that the Bureau of Indian Standards be asked to standardize IPTV set top box specifications so as to help cable TV operators to design their IPTV networks.

That all players -- including cable TV operators -- should give a self-certified declaration to the I&B Ministry, DoT, and TRAI, giving details like license/registration under which IPTV is being proposed, the starting date, the area being covered, details of network infrastructure, etc. Which will help the government monitor IPTV services.

TRAI has further recommended that foreign direct investment in players who provide IPTV services continue to remain as per the existing structure. Of course, this implies comparative advantage to telcos and ISPs as there's a 74 percent cap in these sectors, while for cable operators, the FDI limit is less -- 49 percent.

Cable internet is in vougue in other countries and it has found favour with the internet users acroos the world. But in India implementation of this network may be fraught with some hiccups arising out of governments's policies with legal loopholes besides the consumers beng taken for a ride.I wish that Institutions like BSNL may also take over cable network in public interest.

Viruses on Roll on Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is here, and so are a lot of Valentine's Day computer viruses -- especially in China.

The Chinese agency Xinhua has quoted the Tianjin-based China National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center as warning Chinese users of Valentine's Day viruses that may spread through emails and on-line chat services.

The China National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center has especially warned against a Valentine's Day virus named "Vbs.Valentin.A", which comes as an attachment under the guise of Valentine's blessings for Feb 14.

There are other viruses too:
"Worm-blebla.B" and "VBS-ILoveyou";

against which users have been warned. As precaution, users have been advised to exercise care with respect to unidentified emails -- particularly those having Spanish characters. Besides, Internet shoppers have been alerted against clicking on fake discount messages from online stores -- which might be used to spread more such viruses.

So as to have a virus-free V-Day, computer users have been asked to update their anti-virus softwares and use real-time computer virus monitoring functions while surfing the Internet.

A 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch!

Good news flowing in from the Apple stable doesn't seem to cease!

After a string of new product announcements and updates lately, the company has now announced doubling the storage capacity of its star products -- the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

Rumors about a 16GB iPhone had been floating around the Internet for quite some time; Apple has been rather quick to gratify them. The iPhone, which is yet to officially step into the Indian market, will now be available in 16GB capacity, along with the earlier available capacity of 8GB.

The iPod Touch, on the other hand, has its capacity doubled to 32GB, and will be available along with its existing 8GB- and 16GB- variants. Both iPhone and iPod Touch models with memory upgrades will include the latest software updates -- the ones that were released at the MacWorld 2008 last month.

These updates include Mail, Maps, Stocks, Notes, and Weather applications, in addition to the ability to customize the home screen. Other features will remain unchanged in all the memory-upgraded models. Besides, people who own earlier models of the products will be able to receive the new software updates for an additional price.

Meanwhile, the 16GB iPhone is available for $499, just $100 more than the existing 8GB version. And, the 32GB iPod Touch is priced at $499, again $100 more than the existing 16GB variant. The pricing of existing capacity models for both products will remain unchanged.

MacBook Air Launched in India

Apple has officially announced today that in two weeks time, its MacBook Air along with accompaniments, and its Time Capsule will be available in India at an Apple store near you.

The MacBook Air has been talked and written about recurrently ever since it was announced by Apple Chief, Steve Jobs, at the MacWorld 2008. The slimmest (no, thinnest) notebook in the world, as Jobs described it, measures just 0.76-inches at its thickest, and a mere 0.16-inches at its thinnest.

According to Apple, the notebook is essentially for the Mac-user on-the-move. This is where its portability and wireless convenience come into play. The Silver Matte colored MacBook Air features a 13.3-inches LED back-lit wide-screen display; if you care about nature, you must know that it's Mercury-free. The MacBook Air features Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Intel 965GMS chipset with integrated Gfx using a new miniaturized package technology.

It also features a 4,200rpm 1.8-inches hard disk drive with 80GB standard storage capacity, and 2GB RAM. The MacBook Air has a built-in iSight Web cam, and a track-pad instead of the conventional touch-pad that works on a platform similar to that of the iPhone or iPod Touch. While the petite frame of the notebook has been appreciated worldwide, its overall configuration has gathered mixed reactions. Which is primarily due to the fact that it gives the conventional optical drive a miss; the Firewire, Ethernet, media card reader, and expansion card slot are also absent from the notebook.

Besides, there's only one USB port included in the MacBook Air. For the missing optical drive, Apple has reassuringly provided consumers with an option to use the MacBook Air SuperDrive, which would be available at an additional cost of Rs 5,500.

For those who do not want to purchase the SuperDrive for their MacBook Air; they can use Apple's software feature on the notebook called Remote Disk. The feature enables you to "borrow" the optical drive of another Mac or PC on the same network as the MacBook Air. Apple's MacBook Air is priced at Rs 96,100. It comes with a limited one-year warranty, on completion of which, additional support-warranty can be purchased from the company.

The other big launch, the Time Capsule, is an automatic data back-up solution that works over a wireless network. It can work as a wireless hard drive for both, the Mac and the PC. On the Leopard operating system (OS), it works like a wireless hard drive that works in sync with Apple's in-house software, Time Machine. It also helps find lost files and restore all of Apple's software.

Time Capsule is a full Airport Extreme base station with 802.11n wireless and four Ethernet ports, plus server grade hard drives to back-up multiple Macs over a network. Apple's Time Capsule will be available in two capacities: 500GB at a price tag of Rs 16,700, and 1TB for Rs 27,200.

No doubt these devices from Apple are considered ground-breaking. But keeping the Indian consumer in mind, the wireless factor in the MacBook Air will surely take some time to get absorbed.

Having The Windows Vista Look And Windows XP Performance - Myth or Reality?

It's funny how when a new operating system from Microsoft arises, there is no point in upgrading to it before the Service Pack. But I sure love the way it looks, don't you? Unfortunately, when I got my Vista preloaded laptop, the thing just couldn't run anything smoothly. So I downgraded to XP. Naturally, with a core 2 duo and 2gb of ram, it runs perfectly.

But what I want in reality is Windows Vista running as SMOOTH as Windows XP. So what did I do? I got www.vistaonxp.com to solve my problem. Basically right now I'm enjoying Windows Vista running as fast as Windows XP! The software uses XP's core and transforms it into Vista, making it the ultimate package.

I can now run my favorite games, such as World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2142 with no compatibility issues! Wohoo! That software upgraded everything, even the boot times. The original Vista took couple of minutes to boot, but www.vistaonxp.com boots up in seconds! Simply awesome.

I'll still need to compare it to the original Vista when (and if...) the Service Pack comes out. But vista on xp is good enough for me.

They're also giving away iPhones. But I'm never lucky in these types of things. I can also see that they're offering the 8gb Unlocked versions of the Apple iPhone. Sounds pretty sweet. They say they're giving it to every 100th customer, sounds kind of unreal. But then again, you can get an iphone for 400 bucks, so it must be real.

I myself is very much happy with the vista look on the windows xp, when i will get my hands on genuine vista then only i will be in a better position to tell you guys about pros and cons of that microsofts giga project.

News Regarding Vista's Forthcoming Replacement

News about Vista's forthcoming replacement has come to my awareness. The next version of Windows is so far called Windows Seven, the codename for Microsoft programs, has a tendency of changing throughout the development of new programs, for an example Vista used to be named Longhorn. The version of "Vista" is to be released in mid 2010, as announced by Microsoft themselves.

The important news is that as far as development efforts are concerned Vista is a closed book; Microsoft has begun moving towards their next great operating system, this of course leaves Vista to be a very slow paced project, further development or implementations to Vista, will be less or almost none existing.

At the time the Vista service pack is planned to get released in first quarter of 2008, alongside with this project in work, Microsoft has started building the contours of Windows 7. As earlier mentioned in this article, has announced the release date of Vistas replacement, the move is a deliberate attempt to try and force users into using Vista. Microsoft are currently working on implementing wireless network advances and include programs like Direct Connect, as component of the Windows 7 server edition.

It will be very exciting to see what kind of new implement Microsoft will deliver to the next operating system, lets hope it will be as good or better than the newest current version of Windows, Windows Vista. And to see if new nice GUI is added once again.

This doesnt mean end to vista.... guys its just started to spread his legs in operating system market even though windows xp and mac os still rules the market. Vista lovers no need to be tense.

More news will be coming soon. Watchout.
